在書面語中，如果虛擬條件從句中有were, had或should，可以把if省掉，而把上述這幾個詞置于從句主語之前，構(gòu)成倒裝結(jié)構(gòu)。
If you had come earlier, you would have met him.
→Had you come earlier, you would have met him.
2.在It is (high/about) time that…句型中，從句中的謂語動詞一般用“過去式或should+動詞原形”來表示虛擬語氣的表述形式，但should不能被省略。
3.當條件狀語從句表示的行為和主句表示的行為所發(fā)生的時間不一致時，在英語中通常稱為“錯綜時間條件句”。其主從句謂語動詞的形式則要根據(jù)其所表 示的時間做出相應(yīng)的調(diào)整以對應(yīng)其所表示的動作行為。如：If we had started earlier, we would catch the first train.
4.名詞性從句中用于表示勸告、要求、命令、堅持、建議、主張、決定等意義的詞等構(gòu)成的兩類從句中，從句的謂語動詞常用“(should)+動詞原形”來表示虛擬語氣的表述形式。
She demanded (that) the paper (should) be rewritten.
注：如suggest, insist用于其本意“暗示、表明”、“堅持認為”，且后面從句中的動作已經(jīng)發(fā)生時，使用陳述語氣。
